The Context
A thoughtfully composed home where every main space is oriented toward the pool, the view, and the experience of open living
illa Nysa Seseh is a three-bedroom residence designed with a tropical–Mediterranean approach, inspired by references from Annie Dean Property and the visual character of Homeboys Studio, expressed through a warm sandy off-white palette. At the beginning of the process, we carried out a brief verification of the topographic data to ensure it matched the actual site condition. The results were consistent, and because the land was relatively flat, the planning process could move forward without major adjustments. In the early sketch stage, the pool was initially placed near the entrance area. It was later moved to the rear of the site so that the main living spaces could face the rice fields and the silhouette of Uluwatu, making the view a central part of the living experience. The outdoor area was then arranged in a single linear sequence: shallow pool, main pool, and sunken lounge. Two palm trees were placed at the center, separated by tempered glass so the water view could remain visually continuous. All bedrooms were oriented toward the pool, while the upper-floor balcony was designed as a seating area to enjoy the surrounding landscape. The client also introduced a heated jacuzzi as an additional relaxation feature. Several skylights were added above the balcony, jacuzzi, and bathrooms to bring in natural light, including a circular skylight that became a key visual element of the design. The spatial arrangement was kept simple, with an open living and kitchen area connected without partitions. To maintain a clean and open feeling without visually heavy structural elements, cylindrical columns were used between the sunken lounge and dining area, allowing the view toward the pool to remain unobstructed. Through coordinated design and construction planning, the project progressed smoothly despite being located in an active villa environment with limited access and restricted working hours
