The Context

Designed around a dominant outdoor lifestyle, Cavallaro Villa Seseh brings together rest, leisure, and tropical openness in one refined composition

Cavallaro Villa Seseh is a three-bedroom villa designed with a strong focus on the outdoor experience as the heart of daily activity. Before the design process began, we carried out a new verification of the site’s topography and found differences between the on-site measurement lines, the certificate boundary, and the subak line at the rear of the land. Through clarification and coordination with the relevant parties on site, an adjusted boundary was agreed upon, allowing the project to move forward with greater certainty and security. For this project, the client came with a spatial program already outlined through a floor planner. The requested spaces included three bedrooms, a garden, seating area, pool, lounge or sunbathing area, pool bar, outdoor kitchen, and an additional idea for a rooftop barbecue area. The architectural form takes reference from 2mdesign_lab’s Villa M, while the outdoor concept and pool experience were inspired by Stylarc, with a strong emphasis on the pool as the dominant feature of the villa. The pool was designed as an overflow infinity pool, with a mini pool at its center and a garden positioned at the rear. The shower area was also completed with a skylight to bring in natural light and enhance the outdoor atmosphere. As the design developed, the building mass was adjusted to align with budget guidance without reducing the essential functions of the space. The interior was kept focused on rest and privacy, while the main activities were directed toward the outdoor areas, allowing the villa to feel complete and comfortable without increasing the building footprint. Wood elements were maintained on the doors, windows, and outdoor ceiling to create a warm and natural character, while gypsum was used in the interior for efficiency. Two existing trees on the site were also preserved and integrated into the design, providing natural shade to the seating area and cabana. This project also marked an important phase for our team, as the full working drawings were produced internally with support from outsourced collaborators. Throughout the process, coordination across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines was strengthened to ensure all drawings were aligned before construction began. The project is located within an active villa area with single-road access, so construction methods and material delivery were carefully arranged in stages to minimize disruption to the surrounding environment. With this approach, the project was able to progress steadily through completion
